NHPC distributes scholarships

BANI: NHPC’s Sewa II Power Station’s Chief Engineer, Bikram Singh, distributed scholarships to the students of Government Senior Secondary School Bani in the presence of senior officers, school principal and staff members.
Meritorious and deserving students from economically weaker sections of the society were awarded the scholarships.
During the current financial year, more than 50 students studying in 14 different government schools located in and around the power station and dam site areas of the project were chosen for the award of such scholarships worth Rs. 4 lakh.
NHPC under its Corporate Social Responsibility programme has been organising various social welfare schemes for the benefit of people living in its vicinity. Grant of scholarships, infrastructure development, distribution of school dresses, furniture, books, etc. forms an integral part of the CSR initiatives in the education sector.
Apart from that various healthcare programmes as well as supplementing of various government sponsored schemes in the field of rural development are also being taken up for the welfare of local people.
The Principal, Mohammad Hafeez, and its staff members thanked NHPC for helping them boost their school’s infrastructure as well as for providing financial assistance to the students of the weaker sections. The school authorities also requested Chief Engineer for NHPC’s intervention in the repairs and up gradation of school toilets for the benefit of more than 1,000 students studying in the school. NHPC is expected to take up the project in the next financial year.
