NHM employees seek regularisation; threaten agitation

SRINAGAR: All Jammu and Kashmir National Health Mission Employees Association (NHMEA) on Monday expressed gratitude to several legislators who raised the issue of regularisation of NHM employees in the Legislative Assembly during the discussion on grants of Health Department.
In a statement issued here, Association Spokesman for Kashmir division, Abdul Raouf said the efforts of senior legislators like M.Y Tarigami, G.M Saroori, Jeevan Lal and R.S Pathania were praise worthy who vociferously raised the demand for regularisation of NHM employees in the House.
“We deeply express gratitude to the legislators who have their ears to the ground despite enjoying power. However, we are dismayed over the unfortunate lack of action from the government on the regularisation and other demands by the employees”, the Spokesman said. He further said that it was extremely unfortunate that the government is not sincere about the plight of professionals who have been appointed through a selection process and have rendered more than ten years service in the department against meager wages.
“We will be compelled to resort to extreme agitational measures if the government did not announce redressal of our demands forthwith”, he added.
