JAMMU: Hundreds of Alumni of Sainik School Nagrota along with family members, students, NGOs, ex- servicemen and people from all walks of life took out a solidarity march to sensitise the society towards the supreme sacrifices made by young officers and men of the armed forces for the dignity, sovereignty and integrity of the country.
The Ex-students of the Sainik School under the banner of NEXAS walked in silence from Press Club to Balidaan Stambh, emanating the message that the supreme sacrifices of our martyrs should be held in highest reverence and the families of the martyrs should be given utmost respect and honour.
The march was aimed more pertinently at expressing solidarity with the family of Major Arvind Bazala, a fellow NEXAN, who lost his life in a chopper crash in Sukna West Bengal on 30th November 2016.
He achieved martyrdom along with two other officers while coming from a routine sortie.
The crash allegedly took place due to technical failure of the Cheetah Helicopter. “Our objective is to sensitise the people in general towards the sacrifices of men and officers of the armed forces.
We also want to sensitise the State Government to consider befitting compensation to the families of these brave hearts at par with other states,” said Randhir Singh Bloeria, Chairman of the NEXAS.
Expressing deep anguish over the martyrdom of young Maj Bazala, he regretted that the precious life of a valiant and promising officer was lost to a faulty machine.
The march culminated at Balidaan Stambh, where homage was paid to the martyrs of Nagrota militant attack, along with Maj Bazala and his two fellow officers. The family members of Maj Bazala were also honoured by the NEXAS.
