JAMMU: Former minister and senior BJP leader Priya Sethi slammed the J&K NPP leader for his derogatory remarks against women, seeking unconditional apology.
Making a statement here on Sunday, the senior BJP leader said that the political parties including the NPP have failed to respect the women folk of the UT J&K as they did for their empowerment during the last 70 years of governance and deprived women of their due rights.
From the day NPP has came into being, it has never spoke favour of women’s rights and has never raised women issues, Priya Sethi, who is also the Prabhari of Rajouri district, said that using derogatory remarks against woman during an election rally reflects the mindset and consciousness of NPP leadership for women of J&K.
Sethi emphasized that women all over the country are feeling confident and honoured because of their respect and dignity which is being maintained by the Modi Government. Induction of women in Union Cabinet and especially when country’s Finance Minister is also a woman and is leading from the front, she asserted.
The former minister said that today women folk from Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh are praising Narendra Modi and Amit Shah for their historic decisions which will now protect the human rights of the women living in J&K and help them lead a dignified life as promised by the Indian Constitution.
“Opposition parties during its rule never respected women, looted people’s money, made country starve on subsidies and never empowered people especially women,” Sethi said, adding that BJP led Government has from time to time framed public centric policies besides have launched multiple schemes like Beti Bacho Beti Padho besides number of other schemes including new domiciles law for J&K has empowered the women of the Union Territory.
“Modi Government has always given priority to women empowerment and for that various welfare measures and schemes for women folk have been launched like ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’, Sukanya Samriddh Account, amendments in Maternity Act, abrogation of Article 35A, Poshan Maah (month) for ensuring a nutritious India, stringent POCSO law etc,” she said.
Terming the amendments in the domicile law as historic, the former minister said that the new rules will bring justice to lakhs of people which had denied since 1947.
She stated that the PM Modi and HM Amit Shah have rekindled a ray of hope and sense of belongingness among this community, which had remained neglected by the successive regimes since Independence.
The BJP led government has contributed and done a lot in just six years of its governance but what other political parties did in their 70 years of rule in J&K?
“BJP is the only party working immensely for women empowerment and making sure that the women of this UT get equal rights in all walks of life,” she asserted.
