New Dastgeer Sahib Shrine to be thrown open in June: Ali Mohammad Sagar

SRINAGAR: Senior National Conference leader Advocate Ali Mohammad Sagar on Tuesday said that the renovation project of the Shrine of Peer-i-Dastgeer Sahib Khanyar will be completed this June.
Sagar conducted tours of various areas of Srinagar city and took the stock of situation to check the arrangements made by the administration in view of the winters.
During the tour, people apprised Sagar about various hardships being faced by them during winters and non-availability of the essential commodities in the city.
He patiently listened to the grievances of people and assured that the administration will provide adequate power, water supply and other essential commodities as administration is bound to help people in these tough times.
Meanwhile, after touring various areas, Sagar chaired a meeting of government officials to seek details about the completion of the new construction of Peer-i-Dastgeer Sahib Khanyar shrine.
Sagar was informed that out of Rs 18 crore allocated for the renovation of the shrine, Rs 14 crore have been spent and the new shrine will be thrown open for the devotees by June 2015.
Sagar said the government has tried its level best to construct the Shrine in its original shape.
Sagar directed the administration to take requisite steps to increase the security of the Shrine and said that the Relic of Hazrat Gous-ul-Azam will also be shifted in the new shrine.
Speaking in the meeting, DC Srinagar Farooq Ahmed Shah said “The construction of the shrine will be completed by June 2015 and also arrangements like last year, will be made during the annual Urs this year as well,”.
