Need to change mindset on cleanliness: Sham Choudhary

JAMMU: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary on Monday said there is a need to change mindset of the people towards cleanliness for early realizing of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of ‘Clean India’.
He said collective efforts need to be made for creating awareness about the harmful effects of throwing garbage in open spaces and water bodies. He urged people to play their role in keeping their environs clean.
The minister was speaking during the concluding function of nationwide sanitation campaign ‘Swachhata Hi Sewa’ at Institution of Engineers here. The PHE department organized various events under the campaign to spread awareness on maintaining cleanliness.
Minister of State for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi also spoke on the occasion and said that the Government is committed to provide clean drinking water to every household in the State and added that various path-breaking steps have been taken in this regard.
He directed the engineers to carry forward the cleanliness drives in all the PHE installations across the state and involve local populace in their cleanliness drives.
Chief Engineer PHE, A.K Gandotra, Chief Engineer I&FC, P. N. Bali, Chief Engineer Ravi-Tawi Irrigation Complex, Rajeev Gandotra and other concerned engineers attended the programme. Later, the dignitaries felicitated the winners of roller skating competition organized by the Department under the sanitation campaign.
