NCC Day celebrated at Government College for Women Gandhi Nagar

JAMMU: National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets of 1st J&K Girls Bn, 1st J&K Naval unit and 2nd J&K Girls Bn celebrated NCC Day at Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar.
A week long programme was organised under the guidance of Dr. Kiran Bakshi, Principal of the College and under the supervision of Lt. Babita Jamwal, Lt. Shivani Sharma, Prof. Poonam and Dr. Revika Arora.
Col. Ritu Sood outgoing Commanding Officer of 1st J&K Girls Bn was the Chief Guest whereas Principal was the Guest of Honour.
Col Ritu emphasised the importance of NCC in character building process.
According to him, during the course of NCC training the cadets are adorned with the leadership, discipline and courage.
He shared his experience with the cadets and encouraged them to lead disciplined life.
Dr. Kiran Bakshi praised the cadets for the involvement in social activities. She emphasised that such activities lead to character building in particular and benefit of society and Nation in general.
During week long programme various activities were under taken such as sanitation drive, pledge on female foeticide and communal harmony.
On the culminating day NCC cadets of college along with ANO’s of 1st and 2nd Girls Bn, 1st Naval unit and Adm Officer of 2nd J&K Girls Bn Capt. Geeta visited Rotary Inner Wheel mentally retarded home for children where cadets interacted with the inmates of the home and shared their experiences. Cadets also gifted sports items and provided refreshment to the children of the home.
