JAMMU: NCC cadets of Government College for Women (GCW) Gandhi Nagar brought laurels to the college by qualifying first round of India Trials held at Trivandrum, Kerala in Riffle Shooting Championship.
Cadets Shefali Kalgotra and Rashmi Verma of 2nd J and K Girl Battalion of Alfa Company, NCC Jammu will now participate in second round of India Trials at New Delhi in the first week of April.
They began their journey of success by taking shooting practices from camping ground, Nagrota.
“Earlier they were selected for North Zone Shooting Championship at Chandigarh and also participated in GV Mavalankar Shooting Championship held at Kolkata wherein Shefali got bronze medal by securing third rank and Rashmi got fourth rank,” Lt. Babita Jamwal, NCC Officer of the College, said.
“They also qualified 59th National Shooting Championship held at New Delhi in December 2015 wherein Shefali and Rashmi both clinched 13th and 14th rank respectively at All India Level,” she added.
Principal of the College, Dr. Kiran Bakshi and Lt. Babita congratulated the outshining cadets for their achievement and wished them success for their future endeavours.
