NCB busts Kashmir-Delhi/Mumbai based drug traffickers’ nexus

JAMMU: Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Jammu busted nexus between Kashmir and Delhi/Mumbai based drug traffickers and arrested culprits for allegedly ferrying a huge consignment of Charas from Kashmir to Delhi and Mumbai.
“Drug traffickers use different modus operandi to procure Hashish every time. It has been found that sometimes they carry contraband in their vehicles and sometimes use the rail route,” Manoj Kumar, Zonal Director NCB told reporters, here on Wednesday.
In the recent seizure cases affected by Narcotics Control Bureau, Zonal Unit Jammu, he said that NCB affected a seizure of 3.928 kgs of Charas on 17th March 2017 and arrested two persons at Kunjwani Chowk Jammu along with a truck in which the drugs was trafficked from Anantnag, Srinagar to Delhi via Jammu.
Thereafter, he said, in another seizure of Charas of 8.400 kgs affected by this unit on 28th March, 2017 in which three persons were arrested alongwith one Santro Car from National Highway at village Pajal near Jahjharkotli Jammu and the drug was destinated to Mumbai.
In both the seizure cases, he said, the nexus between the Kashmir and Delhi/Mumbai based drug traffickers has been unearthed and main drug trafficker at both ends has been identified. The legal action under NDPS Act is being initiated to nab them, he added.
Apart from above a seizure of pharmaceutical drugs namely Codorex (Cough Syrup) about 560 bottles have also been affected by this unit on 26th March at Lakhanpur Check Post, Kathua in which one person was arrested, he said adding that contraband had been concealed in the household items loaded in the truck.
As revealed by the arrested person, he said, said drug was destinated to Srinagar (Kashmir) for local consumption. “We have been making all possible efforts to curb the menace of drug trafficking. We work out information for months and nab those involved. Apart from this, people too need to be sensitised about the menace of narcotics,” said Manoj.
