NC SC/OBC Cell expresses concern over persecution of Dalits

JAMMU: Chairman National Conference SC/OBC Cell Babu Ram Pal on Thursday expressed concern over the caste-politics being pursued by vested interests to pursue their political agenda and paid tribute to Rohit Vemula of the Hyderabad Central University due to apathetic treatment meted out to him.
Expressing shock over the incident at a meeting here, Ram Pal said that such incidents were not in the larger interest of the nation and those responsible for creating coercive circumstances leading to suicide should be severely punished.
The meeting deplored the vicious role of the Vice Chancellor and Executive Council of the University besides the local Member Parliament and Union Ministry for Human Resources Development for perpetrating the situation that led to the unfortunate incident.
“This is not loss for the family but for the society and nation as a whole”, the speakers observed and sought intervention by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in ending harassment of the Dalit people. They also stressed the need for unity in meeting the challenge unfolded by vested interests.
