RAJOURI : BJP Rajouri unit on Sunday held a meeting at Dak Bunglow Rajouri and took strong exception to the recent opposition of National Conference against the resolution passed in the Upper House of J and K legislature. This resolution was passed to honour Maharaja Hari Singh and to declare his birthday as a State Holiday. Senior BJP leaders including Varinder Jeet Singh, BJP Prabari District Rajouri, MLC Vibodh Gupta, Dinesh Sharma District President and Seh Prabari Rajinder Gupta were also present in the meeting and dstrongly criticised National Conference for bringing disgrace to Mharaja Hari Singh and to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The members present in the meeting passed a resolution and asked all the leaders of National Conference from Jammu to resign and to tender unconditional apology to the people of Jammu
In his address MLC Vibodh Gupta said that Maharaja Hari Singh’s legacy as a ruler of a vast and diverse kingdom who loved his land and all his people is something we need to know and learn from. He said that Maharaja Hari Singh brought many reforms in the education sector as well and launched a chain of educational institutions throughout the State. He made primary education compulsory in the State and introduced laws prohibiting child marriage.
Prominent among other senior leaders of BJP who attended the meeting include Atam Gupta, Darbar Choudhary, Talib Mir, Kamal Bakshi, Ashwani Kocharr, Dev Raj Sharma, Kamal Gupta, Anju Chadda and all mandal presidents of the district.
