NC assails PDP-BJP for NFSA, other anti-people measures

RAMBAN: Describing the so-called Mufti Mohammed Sayeed Food Entitlement Scheme as a desperate cover-up to the ill-conceived implementation of anti-people National Food Security Act, National Conference on Friday said the PDP-BJP government has completely lost its direction and grit to governance.
“One after another, the vision-less government is inflicting miseries upon the people in terms of services and development”, District President National Conference Ramban Sajjad Shaheen said while addressing a massive rally held in protest against the Food Entitlement Scheme at Ramsu in Banihal Assembly Constituency.
Shaheen said the latest move of the government is acknowledgment of wrong committed by the coalition dispensation in its first spell, which evoked immense outcry and forced people to come on streets. As a huge chunk of rationees suffered on account of NFSA, the government in a bid to divert the attention indulged in another gimmick.
He said the poor rationees are suffering, especially in remote and backward areas, as the quantity being provided is not only little but unavailable at most of the sale outlets.
The District President said that National Conference has been opposing against the implementation of NFSA from day-one, as it is a measure that has deprived a sizable chunk of rationees of much needed food support. He sought immediate rollback of the Act, saying this has not served any purpose.
“It has boomeranged and the only option left with the government is to appreciate the public sentiment and revert back the old time tested system of rations at CAPD outlets”, he added.
Shaheen also referred to the various other issues confronted to the people, especially on account of development and said the administrative inertia has hampered the process launched and sustained during National Conference led government. He termed the first spell of PDP-BJP government as a failure and said the second tenure has also started on a bad note with life coming to standstill in the Kashmir Valley due to most disturbing situation.
