JAMMU: Natrang organised the first ever workshop on cartoons for its Children’s Weekend Club here at Natrang Studio Theatre on Saturday. The workshop was conducted by prominent cartoonist of the country, Chander Shekhar popularly known as Bunty who has brought Jammu to the national/international limelight through his unique creations of cartoons. He also holds the credit of conceiving and organising the first ever international exhibitions on cartoons organised both in Jammu and Srinagar under the aegis of Indian Council for Cultural Relations.
Director of Natrang, Padamshree Balwant Thakur said that cartoons have always attracted children and has been an important part in enhancing their imagination. “Cartoons have been seen as ‘humour with a pinch of salt’ that not only is a creative medium to communicate but also a visual semiotics and visual persuasion medium”, he added.
“The focus of today’s workshop was to attract the interest of children towards this field which can magically enhance the, creativity and imagination of the children. This art develops a sense of wit, keen perception and cleverly apt expression of those connections between ideas that awaken amusement and pleasure,” he added.
The lucky children who have been a part of this rarest learning opportunity include Sanchita Dubey, Mihir Gujral, Manya Gujral, Agam Kaur, Gopi Sharma, Asma Gul, Divyan Sharma, Riya Jandial, Khushi Jandial, Suditi Jamwal, Kriti Chauhan, Yajur Mahajan, Shivangini Sharma, Gauri Sharma, Nidyaat Singh Jamwal, Sahil Anand, Swaranjali Sambyal, Aanandita Sethi, Navya Jain, Sahil Anand, Arnav Anand, Parney, Ayn Bhola, Jasmeh Kaur, Baani Kaur, Vanika Gupta, Prashant Sharma and Nirbhaya Khajuria.
Among those who were present on the occasion include Anil Tickoo, Neeraj Kant, Sumeet Sharma, Aarushi Thakur, Mohammad Yaseen, Mahikshit Singh and Ankush Lakhnotra.
