STATE TIMES NEWS

JAMMU: Natrang Jammu organised a ‘Bharatanatyam’ workshop under the guidance of Nitika Aggarwal at Natrang studio theatre in the ongoing Children Theatre Camp-2023 which is being conducted by Sumeet Sharma.
Speaking about the workshop Natrang director Balwant Thakur informed that in its endeavour to expose younger generations to the great performing art traditions of India, Natrang this year chose to introduce one of the leading classical dance tradition ‘Bharatanatyam’ to the participants of Natrang Children Theatre Camp.
He further informed that India has eight classical dance traditions and Bharatanatyam is amongst the oldest one. Bharatanatyam traces its origins back to the Natyashastra-an ancient treatise on theatre written by the mythic priest Bharata.
