National Youth Day, Lohri celebrated with fervour

Jammu: Various Educational Institutions celebrated National Youth Day and Lohri celebrated with fervour in their premises on Monday.
Sacred Heart College of Education celebrated Lohri in the college premises. The festival was started with prayers chanting mantras. The fire was lit by Managing Director of the College, Hari Singh Chib, the Principal, Dr. K.K Tiwari along with all staff members and the students.
The Sacred fire Folk songs were sung by students who also presented cultural activities. Principal threw light on the importance of the festival.

The students and the staff members of Dogra College of Education celebrated the Lohri festival with religious fervour and enthusiasm. The bonfire was lit and the students and the staff members paid their obeisance by enchanting “Gyatri Mantra” followed by Lohri Folk Songs.
Prominent among those presents were Secretary Dogra Educational Trust Samar Dev Singh Charak along with Director cum Principal of the College, Prof. B.D Damral.
151st Birthday of Swami Vivekananda was celebrated with traditional fervour and gaiety at Vishwa Bharati Public Higher Secondary School Akalpur Morh. Principal, Annapurna Kaul was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Simran Thusoo of Class 9th B delivered a speech about the life and teachings of Swami Ji while Arushi, Pallavi and Taniya of class 9th B and 7th A respectively put forward their sayings.
Chief Guest stressed upon everybody to follow the teachings and inculcate in themselves the ideas of Swami Vivekananda who preached national integration and international brotherhood.
House Master Shivam House, Shakti Raina greeted everybody on the eve of Lohri and delivered a speech explaining the significance of National Youth Day.
Blooming Buds of the school celebrated the festival Lohri with bonfire.
Himanshi Dhar compered the programme and presented vote of thanks.

To mark the respect to the seasons and the natural elements of fire, wind, earth and contribution of Swami Vivekananda, Lohri festival and National Youth Day was celebrated in R M Educational Complex where R M College of Education and RM Public School lit the bonfire, chanted mantras and offered prayers for happiness and prosperity of all.
R. S Moza (Senior Lecturer) highlighted the importance of the day as the harvest of Rabi crops. He also threw light on contribution of Swami Vivekananda.
Rita Mengi extended Lohri greetings and blessings to all and focused on importance of cultural importance of the festival.
Principal of the College, P.K Dhar also greeted everyone.
Senior Lecturer of the College, Priyanka Sharma organised the programme.


KIDZEE, a play way school of Zee Network Pvt. Ltd., Anand Nagar, Gandhi Nagar and Channi Himmat celebrated Lohri with great enthusiasm.
The kids who were in colourful costumes assembled around the bonfire and sang the traditional songs of Lohri. They were given demo regarding the importance of this festival which reflects the light on living together with brotherhood, harmony and love.
The theme behind the celebration of this day was to make the kids aware about the value of the festivals as they enrich our culture and symbolizes the feeling of togetherness.
The celebration concluded with folk songs and everybody exchanged greetings with each other.


Humanity Public School, Bassi Kalan celebrated the auspicious harvest festival of Lohri with great joy and enthusiasm. The celebration began with a special assembly, where the house captain enlightened the students and teachers about Lohri festival.
On the occasion special arrangements were made during which the bonfire was lit and dances, melodious songs were presented by the students. Principal, Gaurav Charak threw light on the festival of Lohri and said that the festival marks the victory of good over evil.
He said that we all should burn our ill omens in the fire and be pure as the light emerging from the fire. He wished the whole staff and management a very happy and prosperous Lohri.

Lohri was celebrated with great enthusiasm and gaiety in Sant Mela Singh College of Education. Chairman of the College, Prof. Anmol Singh presided over the function. Principal, Dr. Kiran Luthra threw light on the importance of the festival. Students presented colourful cultural programme.
National Youth Day celebrated at Government College of Education Jammu wherein NSS Unit organised a series of programme.
The students made presentations on various issues related with leadership and personality development took a pledge to devote themselves in studies, fight against various social evils, give regards to their elders and keep themselves away from all those bad habits which spoils the future of the youth. The NSS Unit of the College organised a special cultural bonanza with a theme ‘Kudiyan Di Lohri’. Principal of the College Prof. Dr Ajeet Angral advised the students to inculcate value and hard working for becoming global leaders. Vote of thanks was presented by the NSS Programme Officer Prof. Ashu Jolly.
Sai Shyam College of Education and Sai Shyam Public School Ghou Manhasan celebrated Lohri with enthusiasm in the college compound. A bonfire was lit by the Chairman of the Sai Shyam Educational Society C.L Tickoo along with all members. Principal Sai Shyam College, Dr. Usha Tickoo threw light on the importance of the festival.

The students and staff of SM Jain Higher Secondary School Jammu celebrated Lohri with gaiety. A six-member team of students from Korea also visited the school and interacted with the staff and students.
In this connection and impressive function was organised in the school campus under the chairmanship of the President Jain Educational Trust, Sunil Jain.
Bonfire was lit and captivating cultural programme was presented by the students. Jain eulogised the performance of the students. The Principal Kulwant Singh stressed the need of preserving pristine cultural heritage in spite of seeking modern education.
Chenab College of Education celebrated Lohri with religious fervour and gaiety. Students lightened the bonfire and worship the Lord Agni. The students participated actively in this programme and enjoyed the occasion with full bonanza. The Principal appreciated the efforts of the teacher and the students..

The NSS unit of Luthra College of Education under the guidance of NSS Programme Officer Upasana Sharma celebrated National Youth Day and Lohri with great zeal.
The function was presided over by the Chairman of the College, Rajiv Luthra. The students presented an array of programmes on the event of Lohri cultural activities.
A symposium was organised on the topic “Relevance of Swami Vivekananda’s teaching in the present scenario”.
The first position was clinched by Richa, second was taken by Anjali and third position was bagged by Sonia Manhas. Consolation price was given to Muneeshwar.
Chairman of the college impressed upon the students to follow the ideals of Swami Vivekananda in their life as the values are degrading in the society. He also highlighted the importance of Lohri festival.
Senior Lecturer of the College, Seema impressed upon the students to understand the real motto of NSS and render their selfless service to the society afterwards she presented vote of thanks.

Lohri was celebrated at Rich Harvest School, Bari Brahmana with lots of exuberance and fanfare. It started with special assembly in which importance of the festival was discussed by creating awareness among the students. Students came attired in traditional dress and were absorbed in the festive sprit of Lohri.
Ruchi Charak (Trustee) and Sukhvarsha Mehta (Principal) lit the sacred bonfire to initiate the celebration. Ritual of offering the Prasad to the pious fire was performed by the staff members and students.

Lohri, the festival marking the last day of Hindu calendar and also representing the climax of winter was celebrated at IECS Polytechnic, with gaiety, vigour and great enthusiasm.

A bonfire was lighted in the institution premises. The student performed Lohri dance and group songs were presented by the faculty as well the students. The function was attended by representatives of management, the staff and the students.
Principal of this Institution, Prof. K.G Gupta and Dean Administration, Ajay Jamwal greeted the staff on this pious and auspicious festival.

Lohri Festival was celebrated in Vimal Muni College of Education Vijaypur. Students arranged the holy log of woods and decorated it with Rangoli. Chairperson of the College Anu Gupta, Principal, Dr. Neelam Bakshi, staff members and students celebrated Lohri with lots of fun and frolic enjoyed the festival in a traditional way and lit the holy fire, prayed to Almighty for peace and harmony.

Chairman KPS, Nirmaljit Singh Amn was the Chief Guest while Principal, Manjula Dogra and Secretary KPS, Harpreet Kour were also present on the occasion. Nirmaljit said that Lohri is a festival of love, brotherhood, national integration and communal harmony. He also appreciated the cultural program presented by the students. Manjula Dogra complemented all the students on the occasion of Lohri and wished all success, good health and prosperous future. Harpreet Kour secretary also spoke on the occasion. The proceeding of the program were conducted by Mrs. Narinder Kour and vote of thanks was presented by Mrs. Neeraj Thakur

Bhartiya College of Education celebrated the Lohri in the college premises with great enthusiasm. The programme started with lighting of the bonfire which was together lit by the management, principal, faculty members and the students of the college. The students celebrated the occasion with singing and dancing.
Lohri was celebrated with pomp and show at Luthra Public School Talab Tillo. All the dignitaries put forth their views on the festival and other advantages of it for the furtherance of peace and love across the country. They also mentioned as how it marks the end of bad deeds and hatred and ushers the brother hood all over the country.
The principal of the school said, “We should endeavour to put all the efforts to spread love and peace so as to mark this universes a place worth living.”
NSS unit of Government Degree College Kathua celebrated the National Youth Day. About 74 students participated in the celebrations.
Dr. Ram Singh, NSS Programme Officer spoke on the teachings of Swami Vivekananda. He quoted Rabindranath Tagore as saying, “If you want to know India, study Vivekananda. In him everything is positive and nothing negative”.
He also quoted what Mahatma Gandhi said “Swami Vivekananda’s writings need no introduction. They have their own irresistible appeal.” He asked the students to follow the teaching of Vivekananda for a bright career.
NSS Programme Officer, Dr. Suraya Partap Singh said according to Vivekananda, education is the manifestation of perfection already in man.
“We want that education by which character is formed, strength of mind is increased, the intellect is expanded and by which one can stand on one’s own feet,” he said.
Staff Secretary of the College, Prof. Sumanesh Singh recalling the teachings of Swami Vivekananda called upon the students to realize the importance of education in their lives. He advised them to study for attaining knowledge not just to earn a degree.
Senior faculty member Prof. P.K Rao, Prof. Anirudh, Prof. Tajinder Kour, Prof. Jasvinder, Dr. R. K Manhas, Dr. Ram Krishan, Prof. Rajesh and Prof. Ajmair Singh were also present.
