National Panthers Party appeals Union Defence Minister to revoke SRO 221

NAGROTA: Vilakshan Singh State General Secretary, Young Panthers (Youth Wing of J and K National Panthers Party) has urged the Union Defence Minister to come to the rescue of residents of Upper Kanyala, Lower Kanyala, Kah, Sangar, Madin, Lower Nakola and Lower Slay falling in Nagrota Constituency.
In his representation to the Union Defence Minister, Vilakshan Singh narrated that the Deputy Commissioner Jammu has issued a notification dated15th May 2011, on the requisition made by Commandant, 15 Field Ammunition Depot, whereby virtually a total ban has been imposed upon the construction and even repairs of the houses situated in the said villages falling within 1,000 yards of the outer perimeter of the 15, Field Ammunition Depot Jindrah.
Vilakshan Singh has further requested the Union Defence Minister to revoke SRO 221 of 2001 which empowers the authorities to impose restrictions on all land comprised in the area lying within the distance of 1,000 yards from the perimeter of the works of defence namely, 15 FAD Jindrah in the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
Vilakshan Singh said that the people of the above said areas are being forced to live in inhuman conditions. They are neither allowed to raise new constructions over their own land nor are they allowed to carry out necessary repairs in their houses. Vilakshan Singh said that the residents of these villages suffered heavy damages in the recent rains and floods but still they are not able to repair their houses due the restrictions imposed vide above said SRO 221 and the above mentioned notification. He further said that due to issue of the above notification, the unemployed youth of the said villages are not allowed to construct shops over their own land and youth are being made to suffer due to the draconian law being imposed by the Central Government.
