Nation will forever remain indebted to Major Akash Singh: Team Jammu

JAMMU: Floral tributes were paid to martyr Major Akash Singh on this martyr day on Saturday during a function organized by Team Jammu at Shaheed Major Akash Singh memorial park at Rajpura Mangotrian, here.
The family members of martyr including his wife Deepti Sambyal, Khushi (daughter) Tejasvi Singh (son), Rajeshwar Singh, Dr Jagdev Singh, Ajay Singh, Vikas Singh (Brothers), Atul Dev Singh, Sandeep Singh (Brothers-in-Law), Asha Sambyal, Rita Devi, Kusum Katoch, Mamta Singh along with Chairman, Team Jammu and BJP leader Zorawar Singh Jamwal, former Mayor, Chander Mohan Gupta, Corporator Ward No 29, Surinder Chowdhary, President, Yuva Rajput Sabha, Vikram Singh Chib, former President Rajan Singh Happy, Mandeep Chib, Bhanu Pratap Singh Jamwal, Sanjay Singh, along with senior citizens of the locality paid rich tributes to the martyr and remembered his supreme sacrifice.
Major Akash Singh, a recipient of Shaurya Chakra, attained martyrdom while fighting terrorists during an encounter on Line of Control in Poonch district on Sep 9, 2009.
While paying floral tributes to martyr Major Akash Singh, Zorawar Singh appealed to people that always remember the sacrifices of martyred soldiers. He said that such events will not only solve the purpose of remembering contributions of the Army but people need to bond themselves with their sacrifices.
Zorawar further highlighted that people should not forget the days when our soldiers give their lives while guarding borders for nation’s safety. He said that the youth must unite and stand in support of our forces so that they should not feel demoralized in the hands of anti-national elements.
He said that people of Jammu should feel proud that Dogras have sacrificed their lives for the dignity and honour of Mother India. He said that supreme sacrifice of Major Akash Singh will be remembered for coming centuries.
Former Mayor, Chander Mohan Gupta said that “Nation will forever remain indebted to soldiers like Major Akash Singh who fought valiantly, upheld highest traditions of our armed forces and nation. Today, martyr Major Akash Singh, recipient of Shaurya Chakra, is not with us, but he will always remain alive in the hearts and a role model for younger generation.”
Among others present on the occasion included Surinder Sharma, Mulakh Raj Sharma, Pardeep Kumar, Sanjay Verma, Bawa Sharma, Brahmjot Satti, Atul Bakshi, Dr Om Prakash, Mangal Dass, Ramesh Thussoo, Rajesh Gandotra, Satish Padha, Sunil Gupta and Avinash Sharma.
Meanwhile, as a part of the campaign ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ BJP leader Chander Mohan Gupta along with gathering collected the soil from the premises of Major Akash Memorial Park and reiterated the importance of this patriotic initiative. They collected soil would be sent to the National Capital, New Delhi.
