Banihal: The bodies of nine persons, who were charred to death in the fire mishap in Nashri belt of Ramban District on 1st January, were exhumed after DNA identification and handed over to their family members.
All the nine bodies have been identified from the reports of DNA profile and were exhumed on the orders of District Magistrate Ramban, a district officer said on Wednesday.
They were handed over to the legal heirs, he said.
The exhumation was carried out in the presence of Tehsildar Ramban and the investigation was supervised by Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by SP Ramban.
Those identified after DNA profile include Des Raj of Drabshalla in Kishtwar, Devender Kumar of Jaganu in Udhampur, Showkat Ali of Dina Nagar in Punjab, Irfan Latif of Thathri in Doda, Nasir-ud-Din Shah of Banihal in Ramban, Ishtiaq Ahmed Bhat of Banihal in Ramban, Rohit Kumar of Hoshiarpur in Punjab, Sheikh Irfan of Banihal in Ramban and Mohammad Rafi of Drabshalla in Kishtwar.
Ten people had died in the fire incident on 1st January in a camp at Dhalwas in Ramban District. Out of them only one Rakesh Kumar of Kangra in Himachal Pradesh was identified then.
