Narwal Mandi to get cold storage facility soon

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Government on Saturday announced to build cold storage facilities, on a priority basis, at fruit terminal markets in Parimpora, Sopore and Narwal.
The decision was taken at the fifth State Agriculture Marketing Board meeting held under the chairmanship of Minister for Horticulture Abdul Rehman Veeri here, an official spokesman said.
He said the board also gave nod to construct a new fruit market on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway for marketing of dry fruits and saffron. It also approved construction of a packing and grading centres at fruit markets of Parimpora, Sopore and Jablipora.
It was also decided to establish J and K Horticulture Produce and Marketing (JKHPMC) Offices at Lakhanpur and Mughal Road to record inflow and outflow of fruit and vegetables and create a database regarding actual import and export of agriculture and horticulture commodities in and out of the State, the spokesman said.
He said the meeting also approved construction of Kissan Ghar at Raj Bagh and Guest House at Primpora Terminal Market.
The board also approved construction of interpretation centres and plaza type gates in terminal markets of Sopore and Parimpora in the Valley and Narwal in Jammu.
Besides, it also decided to shift the traders of Fruit Mandi Ashajipora to Fruit Mandi Botingoo in Anantnag District, the spokesman said.
