Narrow escape for bank recovery team as loanee opens fire; PDP leader among 3 detained, 2 absconding

JAMMU: Members of recovery team of Jammu and Kashmir Grameen Bank on Tuesday escaped unhurt when a man fired two gunshots to threaten them in Kunjwani area of Jammu city.
Police sources said that the bank recovery team had gone to the house of a defaulter identified as Mohammad Hussain allegedly after he failed to honour the debt after dozens of repeated reminders and requests from the bank.
“When the recovery team reached his house, the defaulter and his associates namely Saddam Hussain, Mohammad Amir, PDP leader Parwez Khan and Sohail Khan had heated arguments which took an ugly turn,” police sources said.
“Later on, some rounds were fired in the air threatening the recovery team, sources said, adding, “the defaulter and his associates resorted to stone pelting during which the bank’s recovery van got damaged.” “Meanwhile, police also rushed to the spot and detained Parvez Khan, his brother Sohail Khan and Mohd Amir and also recovered a pistol,” they said.
“A manhunt has been launched to apprehend Saddam and Mohd Hussain who managed to escape from the spot,” police sources added.
