Nanak Nagar Club wins Bhagat Singh u-16 hockey

JAMMU: Nanak Nagar Hockey Club won the inaugural match of the Second Shaheed Bhagat Singh Sub-junior (under-16) Tournament being organised by Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Foundation at K K Hakku Stadium, here on Monday.
In the opening tie, Nanak Nagar Club trounced Maharaj Ranjit Singh Hockey Club 5-1. The opening of the event also marked the National Youth Day. Today’s match was officiated by the technical penal including Jagjit Singh, Joginder Singh, Jagjit Singh and GS Bakshi.
Earlier, the competition declared open by member CCIM and chairman of Sri Sai Charitable Trust, Dr Roop Lal Sharma, who was chief guest. He interacted with the teams playing in the inaugural match and encouraged the young boys.
President of the host Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Foundation, Dr Taran Singh informed that 12 teams are taking part in this competition on knockout basis.
The participating clubs included Sittu Club Simbal Camp, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Hockey Club; Maharaja Ranjit Singh HC Simbal Camp; Guru Nanak Nagar Hockey Club, Baghe-i-Bein Hockey Club Gole Gujral; Young Star Simbal Camp; Army Public School, Miran Sahib; Ajit Club Gole Gujral; Hira Nagar Club, Hira Nagar; Zorawar Hockey Club Satwari; APS Rakh Muthi and MBS Simbal Camp.
Prominent among those present in the opening function were General Secretary of Hockey J and K, Romal Singh, G.S Bakshi, Manjit Singh, Avtar Singh, Davinder Bakshi and Ravinder Singh.
