POONCH : On the occasion of Parkash Utsav of 10th Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji a Nagar Kirtan was taken out by District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee in the border district of Poonch on Friday in which thousands of devotees participated.
After the commencement of three days long Sri Akhand Path in the morning, the Nagar Kirtan started from Gurdwara Singh Sabha Poonch at noon when the Sangat from Gurdwara Singh Sabha Purani Poonch led by Jathedar Onkar Singh and the Sangat from Gurdwara Dukh Niravran Dara Dulian, Jhallas led by Baba Kuldeep Singh joined them.
The holy Guru Granth Sahib was kept in a well decorated vehicle led by traditionally attired Panj Piyaras. The groups of youths and the scouts of various schools including Guru Nanak Academy and Sant Mela Singh Public School, were on the fore-front. Raagi Jatha of Bhai Balwinder Singh from Durbar Sahib Amritsar, Bhai Rajinder Singh of Dara Dulian and others recited Gurbani Kirtan moving atop vehicle trolleys.
The Nagar Kirtan procession passing through Main Bazaar reached Quila bazaar where various scholars addressed the Sangat. President District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Prof Narinder Singh welcomed the participants. He expressed the concern of community that the DDC did not review the arrangements of Gurpurab celebrations as he had been doing in the cases of all the religious functions. He requested the administration to ensure regular supply of power and water during these three days function besides providing adequate security.
Giani Inder Singh, Scholar Manmohan Singh and other speakers also addressed the people. The procession then passed through Bus Stand and reached the ground of Government Degree College Poonch where Sikh youths displayed martial art – the traditional warfare Gatka under the president-ship
of Manmohan Singh. Besides number of stalls enroute, tea, coffee and sweets were distributed among the devotees at GDC ground. The Nagar Kirtan procession proceeded to Nakhanwali Road, Parade Ground and then culminated back in Gurdwara Singh Sabha Poonch.
Prominent among those who were present in the Nagar Kirtan include DDC Poonch M.H Malik, SSP J.S Johar, Addl SP Amit Gupta, Dy SP Headquarters Deepak Dhingra, President District Congress Committee Advocate Rajinder Singh, CEO (Retd) Paramjit Singh, President DYSO Gurpreet Singh, Chairman Surjan Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Senior Panj Piyara Prof Sarwan Singh, Amar Singh Josh, Member Sanatan Dharam Sabha Shammi Bali and others.
