UDHAMPUR: Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) Udhampur on Monday organised a medical checkup cum awareness camp for drivers/ conductors to promote healthy living for driver partners who are constantly on the move and need to monitor their health at regular intervals.
The camp was organised with the support and participation of the Health department. A dedicated team of doctors conducted on the spot medical examination of the drivers who were also provided counselling and literature on good health.
Medical checkup including sugar, Blood pressure and eye testing of more than 200 drivers and conductors was conducted.
Similar camps were organised in Ramnagar and Chennani areas also. Apart from this, the drivers were also made aware of monitoring of fatigue level as fatigue causes various effects on the wheel including slower reaction time, decreased concentration, altered judgment, memory lapses, increased risk of drowsiness or falling asleep which can lead to accidents on the road. The drivers were made to realise the signs of fatigue and to take rest after long driving to avoid fatigue and accidents.
ARTO, Udhampur Jugal Kishore Sharma appealed to the drivers to stay healthy and cautious and ensure routine medical examination for a healthy life.He stressed that a healthy driver is the key for safe driving.
