Musa Club, Lone Star among 4 clubs in quarters

JAMMU: Musa Club, Lone Star Kashmir, DFA Srinagar and DFA Baramulla won their respective matches to qualify for the next round of quarterfinals in the ongoing XXIII State Football Championship at GGM Science College Ground, here on Friday.
In the pre-quarterfinals, Musa Club defeated Vijay Club 3-1 via tie-breaker. Goalless in the stipulated time, the well contested match witnessed sensible play by Musa during penalties. Manjeet, Vishal and Somay netted the ball for Musa Club while Kunal was lone scorer from Vijay Club.
To reach the last eight stages of the competition, DFA Baramulla defeated Young Rovers by a solitary goal while Lone Star Kashmir trounced the energetic and fighting J&K Bank Academy 1-0. Liaqat netted the only goal of the match.
In another pre-quarterfinal game, DFA Srinagar outplayed Shaheen Club, Jammu by two goals to one. Junaid and Shayik were the scorers from Srinagar while Davin reduced the margin from Shaheen Club.
