Murder plot foiled; cop, history-sheeter arrested

JAMMU: Averting a murder plot, the Jammu police on Thursday arrested a Constable and a notorious history sheeter while a Belgium made revolver and a Chinese pistol were recovered from their possession.
Their co-accused, however, managed to flee in a brand new Ritz car (without registration number). Police has launched a manhunt to nab him.
The accused Constable posted at Chinore Police Post has been identified as Jhangir Ahmed, son of Haider Ali, resident of Janipur and Mohitesh Sharma alias Munna, son of Ved Prakash, resident of Shakti Nagar.
Police team from Gujjar Nagar naka acted swiftly when a contractor Raiz Ahmed raised an alarm that he had been attacked.
Raiz managed to flee when Constable Jhangir Ahmed pointed his Belgium made revolver on him, police said. Locals informed the police and a cordon was laid and both the accused Jhangir Ahmed and Mohitesh were nabbed. Over 10 live cartridges were also recovered from their possession.
FIR (35/15) under section 341/307 RPC and 3/25 arms has been registered at police station Pir Mitha.
The Police team led by S-I Rasheed IC/PP Gujjar Nagar. SHO Pir Mitha Inspector Javed Malik, SDPO city north Dy SP Perbeet Singh Parihar under the supervision of SP City Shiv Kumar Singh Chouhan nabbed the accused.
Mohitesh is history sheeter with seven cases registered against him.
During preliminary investigations it has been ascertained that both the accused were demanding money from contractor Raiz over a land deal. As Raiz refused to pay, the duo hatched a conspiracy to kill him.
However, timely action of police averted the murder plot.
