JAMMU: The Enforcement Directorate has attached immovable properties of former DyGM of JKPCC in money laundering case while the Adjudicating Authority has also confirmed the attachment.
Adjudicating Authority confirms property attachment
As per details, acting on FIR 12/13 registered by Anti-Corruption Bureau Jammu against one Suresh Rekhi, son of Late Om Parkash Rekhi, the then Dy GM of Jammu and Kashmir Project Construction Corporation Limited under section 5(1)(c) read with 5(2) J&K PC Act Samvat 2006 with allegations that Suresh Rekhi, by indulging in corrupt and illegal practices, has accumulated huge wealth disproportionate to his legal source of income.
After investigation by ACB Jammu, charge-sheet was filed by ACB against Suresh Rekhi and his wife, Kumud Rekhi before the court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Jammu (ACB) on March 19, 2018 wherein it came to fore that from March 1, 1991 to August 5, 2013 accused Suresh Kumar Rekhi in connivance with his wife namely Kumud Rekhi, accumulated disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs 3,82,74,730.
Accordingly, Enforcement Directorate Jammu registered ECIR/02/JMSZO/2020 on February 21, 2020 against Suresh Kumar Rekhi and Kumud Rekhi under Prevention of Money Laundering Act 2002. The Enforcement Directorate during PMLA investigation identified disproportionate assets acquired by accused which are taken as proceeds of Crime under PMLA Investigation. During PMLA investigation, proceeds of crime to the tune of Rs 2,60,78,550 was provisionally attached vide PAO No. 01/2022 on 31.01.2022 in terms of section 2(1)(u) of PMLA and were found involved in offence of money laundering. Accordingly, adjudicating authority PMLA New Delhi has confirmed PAO No. 01/2022 issued on January 31, 2022 by pronouncing order of confirmation. Further investigation is under process. Immovable properties attached by Adjudicating Authority PMLA New Delhi include Farm House at Village Tarore, Smailpur, District Samba; 1 Kanal 2 Marla plot situated at Bhalla Enclave Channi Himmat and Flat No. PVC0091104 situated at Wish Town, Jay Pee Green, Sector 128, Noida.
