JAMMU: Dr Manohar Lal Sharma senior Congress leader and former Minister and General Secretary PCC accused BJP government of unprecedented rise in prices of essential commodities and daily consumable items.
He said, “Rs. 50 per kilogram rise in Dal price and Rs 15 per kilogram rise in sugar price have made these commodities beyond the reach of common man. People who were expecting plunge in prices under Modi’s ‘Achhe Din’ promise are now feeling deceived and repenting their decision of voting BJP to power”.
He slammed Dr Nirmal Singh Deputy Chief Minister and the BJP leadership in J and K for their failure to raise the issue of imposing 12.5 per cent cess on Yatris of Shri Mata Vaishno Deviji in recent visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Katra on 19th of April 2016 which was gifted by the BJP Government in State to the aforesaid Yatris. He said that indifference shown by BJP leadership in dealing with the issue has disappointed the devotees of Mata Vaishno Deviji and Baba Amarnath who were hopeful and waiting for withdrawal of aforesaid tax.
He said that while in opposition, Modi used to make remarks on UPA government over rising prices but after taking the rein of the country, Modi Government has drastically broken all records of inflation allowing sky-rocketing prices with no checking mechanism available on ground.
He said that after becoming Prime Minister of India, Modi has visited J&K State number of times to inaugurate the projects initiated and completed by the previous UPA government. “Surprisingly he never paid obeisance at Shri Mata Vaishno Deviji Shrine clearly depicting quantum of faith he has for the revered Mata Vaishno Deviji shrine”, Manohar added.
“BJP Government and its leadership in the country is spreading communal hatred, dividing society and creating mistrust among the masses to divert their attention from the burning issues including price rise, unemployment, draught like situation in different States and steep rise in suicides by the farmer community.
Sharma during his four days visit to different villages of District Kathua including Billawar constituency to attend various religious and social functions appealed to the general public to remain vigilant against BJP’s divisive agenda and work for uniting the society through secular credentials of Congress party.
