VIJAYPUR: Criticising Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) led NDA Government in Centre for its soft policy against Pakistan, former Minister and senior Congress leader Manjit Singh on Tuesday appealed to Government of India to resolve border crises with Pakistan.
After visiting Pak firing affected border villages like Dug, Jerda, SM Pur, Jasso Chak, Kandral etc, Manjit Singh said that the people have been facing brunt of the false foreign policy against Pakistan. He also visited Govt Higher Secondary School Ramgarh where affected peoples have taken shelter
“The government has indulged in issuing statements against Pakistan while no concrete step has been taken to resolve the issue,” Singh said, while criticising that people on border are facing trouble the government sleeping over the grave issue as the border with Pakistan has been on boil and several persons have lost their lives, while large number of houses have been damaged.
Senior Congress leader said the cease fire violation issue should be resolved through talks and if it is not possible, they should shift people to safer places.
“People in border villages shift to their relatives or community halls or schools every night due to cease fire violation by Pakistan in the absence of proper arrangements,” the former minister said.
He said that there is lack of drinking water, toilet facility, while people sleep on the ground as the administration as well as government has turned blind eyes towards their suffering.
“The prime motive of the Government should be to end stalemate with Pakistan but it has not taken any step instead tension on border has increased,” he alleged, while saying that they have also not constructed adequate number of bunkers in the border villages for shelters in case of hostility between India and Pakistan.
He further said that there is a need to construct bunkers and allot five Marla plots to each family belonging to border villages for the safety.
“The studies of the students have been badly affected. Women and elderly persons are among the worst troubled people due to repeated displacement from their respective villages to safer places every night,” he said.
Manjit Singh said poor people arrange vehicles from their own pockets and then shift to the safer places while there is no help from the administration to shift them in government vehicles.
He demanded that government should arrange for the vehicles for the above purpose.
