Model Academy holds cleanliness drive under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

JAMMU: As a part of its ongoing Swachh Bharat Abhiyan campaign to realise Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of ‘Clean India’ and to take on the ‘Broom Challenge’ of U4U Media House, Model Academy, the prestigious school of MIER, organised a cleanliness drive on Tuesday.
The campaign was inaugurated by Chairman MIER, Dr. Arun K Gupta along with Director, Dr. Renu Gupta and Joint Director, Dr. Adit Gupta.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Arun said that the mission of this campaign is to make collective and sustained effort to clean our homes, workplaces, streets, roads, schools and all other public places within our purview and keep them clean for all times to come.
In the first phase, students of the Primary and Elementary Wing started the cleanliness mission with brooms and dusters in their hands cleaning corridors, classrooms, ground and surrounding areas of the school.
The senior students took out a rally, holding banners on creating awareness for keeping the surroundings clean.
They removed all sort of garbage, bushes and other unhygienic material including dust and polythene from the road side near BC Road. They could also be seen talking to vendors dissuading them to litter on the streets.
In the second phase, the school plans to allot two hours per month for cleanliness purpose to keep the pledge of ‘Swachh Bharat’ an ongoing mission. The programme was organised under the leadership of Rupa Gupta, Management Representative along with Dr. Chitra Mishra, Principal and Usha Gadoo, Vice Principal.
