JAMMU: IGP Traffic on Friday convened a meeting to discuss modalities for proposed installation of intelligent traffic signal system at 34 new locations in the Jammu City.
The meeting was among others attended by Chief Engineer R&B Jammu, Regional Transport Officer Jammu, Executive Engineer (Electric) SMC Jammu and Additional SP Traffic, City Jammu.
The meeting had detailed deliberation on several issues regarding installation of this system besides seeking suggestion from the concerned to implement the programme in a smooth and successful manner.
The main focus of the discussion was to ensure that all roads leading to these locations are designed in a proper manner by the concerned agency so that there is no technical or design flaw at these vital spots locations.
During the meeting, the issues regarding transport scenario, challenges in regulating the traffic on the roads, role of enforcement/ other road maintenance agencies forming the traffic management structure and installation of the Intelligent Traffic Signal System came under discussion.
Emphasis was laid on maintaining close co-ordination at all levels so that a visible change in brought about in overall traffic management system in the larger public interest.
