JAMMU: Jammu LPG Plant on Friday conducted mock fire drill based on disaster control management plan. The fire drill was witnessed by officials from IOCL, J and K Fire Services Department, JKPCB, ESIC Hospital and other mutual aid partners.
The drill was conducted at Tank Truck Gantry with team officials and workers fighting fire from all the corners with the help of safety equipments and auto fire fighting system of the plant. Fire fighting teams were led by HPCL officers, J and K Fire Services men and ESIC hospital medical staff.
Goutam Sarkar, Plant Manager HPCL Jammu, explained the importance of conducting the mock fire drills for providing training to the stakeholders to tackle emergency situations proficiently. He also appreciated the participation of fire service men in mock drill and emphasized on taking immediate response within first few minutes of fire to minimise damage. He said that apart from showing preparedness to meet any eventually such drills are also aimed at acquiring valuable suggestions from the observers for further improvement.
All the mutual aid partners appreciated the fire fighting practices and equipments of HPCL LPG Plant and said that mock exercises are necessary to keep the staff alert and fire fighting machinery in working condition.
