MLC visits landslide hit Pancheri, distributes relief items

UDHAMPUR: Senior Congress leader and Member Legislative Council (MLC) Jugal Kishore Sharma visited the landslide hit Saddal village in Block Pancheri of Reasi Assembly Constituency and distributed relief items among the affected locals.
Jugal along with his wife Sunanda Sharma and Congress activists including Ashok Padha, Ravi Nag, Bittu Arora, Varun Magotra and Sushil Kumar reached Saddal hamlet with a truck load of relief material.
As many as 127 families of the affected village were provided with the relief material comprising kitchen utensils, blankets, clothing, ration and other eatables.
Speaking on the occasion, Jugal said that he alongwith Congress workers are making all out efforts to mitigate the sufferings of the flood-affected people.
“I assure you that in your hour of crisis, the Congress party is standing firmly with you. Being a representative of Reasi Constituency, I will raise your plight at every appropriate forum and will ensure adequate relief for the flood victims,” Jugal Kishore told the gathering of villagers.
MLC Jugal Kishore further said that provision of relief is just a healing touch for the flood affected people but they need more help in rehabilitating them
“The relief provided today was only a short-term measure which would provide some respite from the present situation. The rain hit and flood affected villages need concrete steps for rehabilitation,” Jugal Kishore said.
Taking this opportunity, I appeal to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board to adopt such distressed villages and construct houses for the affected people as Shrine Board is capable of doing it,” he added.
