MJR-47 hails decision on relief to refugees

STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Movement for Justice for Refugees of 1947 from POJK (MJR-47) expressed gratitude to Parliamentary Committee for having given due consideration to the representation made before them on the long sufferings of Displaced Person’s of 1947 and making recommendations by and large in line with demands.
Members of MJR-47 during a meeting here on Wednesday appreciated the move of said committee for making it time bound and recommending distribution of cash relief within a period of one year. “It is expected that the present dispensation at the centre will accept the recommendations forthwith and take measures to ensure their implementation to mitigate the sufferings of Displaced Persons’ families”, the meeting hoped.
The MJR-47 members further demanded that their wards should also be extended with the favour of reservation in technical colleges at par with Valley Migrants. They said that they have been deprived in this regard despite the fact that most of the seats in reserved quota for Kashmiri migrants remain unutilised.
The meeting also appealed to authorities for upgrading the details of refugees well in time to avoid delays at the time of sanctioning of relief on account of procedural wrangles.
The meeting was convened by J.S. Sudan Convener MJR-47, and attended by Suchwant Singh, Om Parkash Khajuria, Dr. Padam Dev Raina, K.L Sudan, Raj Kumar Sharma, Jaswant Singh, Jagbir Singh (Kathua) and Bodh Raj Sharma.
