Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi are all set to campaign to have best of the results for their respective parties.
In the fifth and final polls, 20 Assembly constituencies in the three districts of Jammu, Kathua and Rajouri will go to polls on December 20.
The results will be declared on December 23.
Narendra Modi will campaign for BJP candidates in Jammu region on Wednesday addressing two election rallies for the fifth and final phase assembly polls.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi will campaign for the party in final phase of elections in Jammu and address two rallies tomorrow,” BJP spokesman Arun Gupta said.
Modi will address rallies at Sangaid-Mandli of Billawar Assembly segment in Kathua district at around 11 am and M A Stadium in Jammu city at around 1.30 pm on Wednesday, he said.
This would be Modi’s fifth visit to Jammu and Kashmir after the poll schedule was announced. He has visited the state four times for campaigning and has addressed seven rallies so far.
A multi-layered security has been set up in Jammu and Billawar ahead of the Prime Minister’s rally.
Troops in big numbers have been deployed in and around the venues of the Prime Minister’s rallies as security measures to prevent any unwanted events. All routes that lead to the venues have been sealed and multiple check points set up with heavily armed para-military and police forces, a police officer said.
Meanwhile, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi will also campaign for his party for the fifth and final phase of Assembly elections on Wednesday.
“Rahul Gandhi will campaign in Rajouri and Kathua tomorrow,” Party’s state General Secretary and Spokesperson Abdul Rashid Choudhary said.
Gandhi will address public rallies at Darhal (Rajouri) at 12 pm and at Bani (Kathua) at 2 pm on December 16, he said.
He had earlier campaigned for party candidates in second phase of polls and addressed rallies in Lolab constituency in Kashmir Valley and at Poonch on November 25.
