Militants kill 12 abducted passengers in Pak’s Balochistan

Karachi: At least 12 passengers who were abducted from two buses in Pakistan’s troubled Balochistan province were killed today by the militants, reports said.

Twelve out of 30-35 passengers, who were abducted in Mastung district in the province while going to Karachi from Quetta in two buses, have been killed by the militants, Geo News reported citing government sources.

A senior official told reporters that around 30 to 35 passengers were taken hostage by the kidnappers who stopped the buses near Khadkochay area of Mastung district by opening fire on them. The kidnappers came in cars.

Five passengers have been released so far, sources said.

“The Frontier Corps and levies have launched a massive operation in the area to rescue the kidnapped passengers,” he said.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif directed officials to ensure the safe and speedy recovery of the passengers.

Shortly after the incident, ambulances and rescue officials rushed to the area under the protection of the security forces.

Mastung is one of the troubled areas of the Balochistan province which has been hit by insurgent, militant and sectarian violence.
