JAMMU: Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET), Jammu received the “Outstanding Institution Award” in a grand ceremony conducted at National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Chandigarh.
This award is given by NITTTR every year to the engineering institution whose performance during the year is the best in the northern region comprising of the states of J and K, Punjab, HP, Haryana, Rajasthan, UP, Uttrakhand, Delhi and Chandigarh.
While ascertaining the performance of the engineering colleges, NITTTR takes into consideration various aspects like academics, R&D initiatives, academic linkages, placements, entrepreneurship etc. During the year 2013-14, MIET has displayed remarkable performance in all the fields. It filed two patents and 21 research papers were published in the international journals and conferences. It has four student chapters of international/national level organizations like IEEE, IETE, CSI and ISTE which conduct various activities including national/state level seminars. This year, IBM bestowed it with the award of “Best 50 colleges of India” in The Great Mind Challenge (TGMC) contest in which over 2,000 colleges of the country participated. Even in the techfest organized by Rayat Institute of Engineering and IT, Ropar during Nov 2014, it bagged the “Overall Best Performance” Trophy in the current year.
Vice Chancellor Punjab University, Dr. A.K Grover gave the award to the Principal of MIET Prof. S.K Sharma. He appreciated the efforts of MIET in providing quality education. Padam Bhushan Dr. K.K Talwar, Chairman Board of Governors NITTTR and Dr. M.P Poonia Director NITTTR also congratulated MIET for its excellent performance during the year.
Dr. Arun K Gupta, Chairman and Dr. Renu Gupta, Director and Prof. Ankur Gupta Joint Director MIER Group of institutions congratulated MIET on their exponential growth in imparting quality education and receiving awards of excellence year over year.
