MIER celebrates 79th Foundation Day

JAMMU: Model Institute of Education and Research (MIER) on Wednesday celebrated 79 years of dedicated service in the field of education.
A function to commemorate the day was organised by the institute at its BC Road campus in which Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Kiran Wattal was the Chief Guest.
Others who were present include Dr. Arun K. Gupta, Chairman MIER; Dr. Renu Gupta, Director MIER; Dr. Adit Gupta and Dr. Ankur Gupta, joint Directors MIER; Gen. S.K. Sharma, Principal MIET, the members of the Board of Directors, high-ranking officials, social activists, prominent citizens and large number of parents of the students of various wings of the institute.
The Chief Guest paid rich homage to the Founders of MIER late Prof. H.L Gupta and Prof. Shanti Gupta by laying floral wreaths at their portrait. He also unfurled the flag of the institute.
Chairman MIER Dr. Arun K. Gupta welcomed the Chief Guest and described him as a dedicated and efficient officer.
He also expressed gratitude to the public and parents for giving full support to MIER for seventy nine years in the achievement of its noble educational objectives.
He said that the affiliation of Model Academy upto 10+2 level by the CBSE, New Delhi had opened up new vistas for students in Jammu city, while the grant of autonomous status to MIER College by the University of Jammu was a honour.
He also referred to the academic alliance of MIET with university of Missouri, Kansas, USA which would enable students to pursue higher studies at concessional rates in US.
An impressive cultural programme was presented by the students of Humming Buds, both branches of Model Academy and MIER College of Education.
Wattal lauded the role of MIER in spreading quality education and for producing enlightened citizens equipped with the necessary skills to assume leadership role in all walks of life. Wattal said that humanity is the largest and the greatest religion and children must observe this religion in all institutions. The Chief Guest also requested the large audience to observe one minute silence in the memory of the innocent children who were killed in the terrorist attack in Peshawar, Pakistan a day before.
A vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Adit Gupta, Joint Director MIER.
