JAMMU: Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) employees on Monday staged a protest to press the government over the demands of their regularisation.
A large number of members of MGNREGA assembled at Exhibition Ground and staged a massive protest.
Later they took out a protest rally amidst anti-government slogans. The protesters said from past several years, the government is making tall promises with them regarding the regularisation of their duties but unfortunately not even a single promise has been fulfilled with the employees.
“We are on road today to protest against the failures of the government in regularising our duties. We have been urging the successive regimes to regularise our duties but unfortunately our plea went in deaf ears. We went from pillar to post to seek justice but unfortunately all in vein,” Provincial President of the Association, Sandeep Kalotra said.
He said this is injustice with the employees working in RDD and urged RDD Minister to take immediate steps for the regularisation of employees who have completed five years of service.
Parvez, Tariq Zarra, Daepak Kumar, Sachin Gupta, Jatinder Singh, Zaffar Mahmood, Shakir Hussain, Mohd Ishfaq, Sajad Butt and Sacham Mahajan said, “Our protest will remain continue throughout All Jammu and Kashmir State untill our demands are fulfilled by the government.”
They appealed to the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti to intervene into the matter and fulfill their demands at the earliest and frame job policy for MGNREGA employees within short duration of time.
