Mehooba should not defend BJP but break alliance: Vakil

STATE TIMES NEWS
SRINAGAR: Former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil on Monday said that endorsement of RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat’s remark on constitutional amendments for complete assimilation of Jammu and Kashmir into India by Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh shows the brute surrender of PDP on “agenda of alliance” and now Mehbooba Mufti must quit as Chief Minister to protest the disrespect Nirmal Singh has shown to “agenda of alliance”.
Warning Mehbooba that Nirmal Singh’s remark also show the intents of Modi led BJP government at the centre on further constitutional erosion of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, Vakil asked Mehbooba Mufti to explain as to why her party is continuing alliance with BJP, the party which is trying hard to demolish the special status of the State by overtly and covertly supporting petitions against Article 35A and Article 370 of the Indian constitution and encroaches upon the religious rights of Muslims the second largest majority community in India through cow vigilantism and debates on “Azan”.
Saying that breaking alliance with the BJP is the only befitting reply to BJP’s policy on Kashmir, Vakil asked Mehbooba that why as Chief Minister she is quiet on Nirmal Singh’s endorsement of the RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat’s statement on constitutional changes in Jammu and Kashmir. It is not time for Mehooba Mufti to defend BJP but to break alliance with BJP, Vakil added.
