JAMMU: After spending one full day in New Delhi, PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday returned to Srinagar without achieving any major headway in the process of government formation.
According to reports, immediately after landing in Srinagar, the PDP Chief proceeded to Doda after a brief stay at her Fairview residence.
Party sources claimed for next two days Mehbooba Mufti would be camping in erstwhile Doda district to launch party’s membership drive in the region.
It is learnt that during her short stay in New Delhi Mehbooba Mufti could not meet senior BJP leaders separately and chose to return home than wasting time in the national capital.
As per the grapevine some other PDP leaders authorised by the PDP Chief are still camping in New Delhi to hold unofficial parleys with the BJP representatives to fine tune the contours of the new Agenda of Alliance.
Though both the political parties have been regularly denying reports of holding parleys but are continuing to carry forward the dialogue to its logical conclusion.
On the other hand, notices served to former ministers by the State Estates department to vacate their ministerial bungalows has not gone down well with the senior leaders of both the parties.
Political observers claimed it is a clear indication that formation of alliance government cannot happen in the near future and the Governor’s administration privy to the political developments must have avoided taking the extreme step of serving notices to the former ministers to vacate their ministerial bungalows, if at all the centre was keen to have a government in place with BJP.
Interestingly, the alliance partners themselves don’t know who is calling the shots and pulling the strings in different directions.
According to these political observers closely monitoring the developments in the State, complete silence adopted by the top brass of the BJP in New Delhi is pushing the PDP chief to the wall and the behaviour of the section of BJP leaders may also push PDP Chief into hibernation than resolving the political crisis at hand.
