JAMMU: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday asked the students to take some time out for extracurricular activities like sports and vocational courses which in the long run would also facilitate them in career choosing and job selection.
The CM Mehbooba Mufti said this while interacting with a delegation of students from Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar and Government Women’s College Nawakadal. They presented to her some of the products made by them under ‘Skill Enhancement of Students’.
Several deputations from across the State also called on Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti here and requested early resolution of the problems confronting them, besides extending New Year greetings to her.
The deputations came from different walks of life who sought intervention of the Chief Minister in addressing their grievances and fulfilling demands of their respective areas.
A deputation from Ramban and Kastigarh demanded completion of work on Basantgarh road. They also demanded safety measures to be taken at Bhagliar project site besides operationalisation of PHC Kastigarh and release of pending drought relief of 2014 in favour of remaining panchayats in the district.
A deputation of candidates under SRO-43 category demanded early settlement of their cases. A similar deputation of aspirants for employment under PM package demanded completion of selection process for the posts advertised for them. A deputation from Athwajan, Srinagar demanded considerate resolution of their problems. A deputation of Raghunath Bazaar Business Association brought several suggestions into the notice of the Chief Minister for the beautification and tourist attraction of the market. Another deputation of migrant Pandits demanded strict enforcement of Distress Sales Act in the State.
A deputation of Sikhs led by MLC, Charanjit Singh Khalsa demanded appointment of Punjabi teachers and regular teaching of the language at schools besides putting up other community issues.
A joint deputation of several trade unions demanded resolution of problems of daily and contractual labourers. A deputation of legislators from Ladakh also met the Chief Minister and put up their demands.
Mehbooba listened to the demands of the deputations and assured them of appropriate action.
