JAMMU: Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Chander Mohan Gupta along with Surinder Chowdhary, Councilor of Ward No 29 on Monday started the construction work of lanes falling under Gali No 11 at Shakti Nagar Jammu by way of laying of tiles.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor said that this was the long pending demands of the locals as they were suffering great hardships while passing through these damaged lanes.
With the initiatives of concerned councilor, the works has been started today with an estimated cost of Rs 25 lakh by the Engineering Wing of JMC.
He directed the concerned to complete the work within stipulated time frame by applying best quality construction materials and upto the satisfaction of locals for its long durability.
Later Mayor along with Sucha Singh Councilor of Ward No.31 also visited the areas of Puran Nagar and its adjoining localities of the ward, met with the residents and took stock of the situation arisen due to blockage of Nallah passing from Vikas Lane to Puran Nagar last night due to rain.
Rakesh Bhat, Transport Officer, Dharamveer Singh, Transport officer, JMC along with Prem Raj I/c Sanitation officer Heera Lal Khajuria I/c Sanitary Inspector, concerned Sanitary Supervisor and other field staff of Health & Transport Wing were also accompanied the Mayor.
Mayor directed the field staff of transport/health section to deploy sufficient number of men and machinery and ensure that the aforesaid Nallah is thoroughly cleared at the earliest so that locals can get relief from this menace of blockage and unhygienic conditions.
He also warned that any officials of JMC who do not perform his duty upto the satisfaction of the citizens will face strict disciplinary action.
He appealed to the general public to come forward and cooperate with the JMC in all the development activities being undertaken for the welfare of the citizens.
