Campaign brand ambassadors Padma Shri Prof Vishav Murti Shastri, Judge Suresh Sharma motivates public

JAMMU: Aiming a big blow to the notorious corruption existing across all the departments in the country, Mayor Jammu, Rajinder Sharma on Monday started an innovative campaign under the name ‘Jan Jagran Abhiyan’ motivating the public to play its role to fight the menace and the helmsman of the urban local body gage a slogan ‘Imandar Jammu Shandar Jammu’.
The Mayor stressed on putting an end on political corruption, avoiding caste-based mentality while choosing public representatives and electing an educated candidate having knowhow of administrative affairs.
The anti-corruption campaign started with a chariot flagged off from Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) premises displaying patriotic songs and two brand ambassadors for the campaign leading it.
The brand ambassadors were Padam Shree Prof. Vishav Murti Shastri and retired Judge, Suresh Sharma.
The Mayor today took the campaign to Jammu University, office of Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ward 27 Bakshi Nagar, Auto Stand Bakshi Nagar and other places.
Prof. Vishav Murti Shastri while addressing the public said choosing proper candidate avoiding caste considerations, money and setting priority for educated person will definitely change things in the country in particular and in J&K in general.
Judge Suresh Sharma quoted his experience of judiciary to say that a proper and honest system is possible if one makes a start.
He called the present campaign as a good start and sought public cooperation for its success.
The Mayor said that people elected to the public offices and those at the constitutional posts should be upright and honest to make the entire system of the government proper and upright.
The public welcomed and supported the initiative and lauded the three qualities proposed for selecting a public representative.
The Mayor informed that the campaign shall be taken to schools and colleges so that the coming generations may get to know their future responsibilities as voters and as makers of future India.
Prominent among those present on the occasion were JMC Councillors Ashok Singh Manhas, Surjeet Singh Pappu, Anil Kumr and Kapil Singh Chib. Shreyansh Kumar Jain Ji conducted the proceedings of the programme.
