JAMMU: To inculcate the habit of cleanliness amongst the students and staff of the University of Jammu and to make them aware about the noble mission of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu organized Swachhta Pakhwada from 1st to 15th November, 2016. In this connection a programme of Mass Pledge and Signature Campaign followed by Swachhta rally and cleanliness drive in the campus was conducted on Friday. Prof. Keshav Sharma, Registrar, University of Jammu was the Chief Guest at the occasion.
Prof. Keshav Sharma stressed on the importance of cleanliness and hygiene.
Earlier, Prof. Satnam Kour, Dean Students Welfare led a rousing pledge which was undertaken by all to keep the campus and the society clean. She informed that different programmes like essay writing competition and skit competition on topic Swachh Bharat would also follow in this series.
The whole campus was divided into four zones and an ardent cleanliness drive was undertaken under the leadership of Prof. Satnam Kour, Prof. Renu Nanda, Prof. Yash Pal and Aman Sharma. An inspiring song related to Swachhta was also presented by the students of Institute of Music and Fine Arts which was composed by Suraj Singh. Fine Arts students of IMFA are also thematically painting the walls of university under the guidance of Harsh Vardhan. The programme was coordinated by Sumeet Sharma and Ifra Kak under the guidance of Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Chairman Campus Cultural Committee, Prof. S.K Pandita Co-Chairman Campus Cultural Committee, Dr. Anupama Vohra, Associate Dean Students Welfare, Dr. A.R Manhas and Dr. Parmil Kumar, Assistant Dean Student Welfare. The event was conducted by Sunakshi Ganotra. The sound was operated by Kulbhushan Thakur.
