Markets flooded, goods damaged

POONCH: Due to heavy rains water out of the chocked drains in lower market of Poonch town including Quila Bazaar and Bus Stand flooded and entered into number of shops and damaging the goods including cement stocks and other costly stores. The affected shops belonged to Mohd Amin Magrey, Mohd Tariq, Tariq Aziz, Khursheed Ahmed Bandey, Bansi Lal, Rajiv Tandon, Riaz Ahmed and Mohd Gulzar. People came on roads and raised hue and cry.
The SSP Poonch J. S Johar alongwith other officers reached the spot and took stock of the situation. He assured the shopkeepers that the matter will be discussed with the DDC and a committee will be constituted to assess the loss.
Meanwhile, the people said that in the absence of a proper drainage system the drains get chocked and the overflowing water enters the market area. They demanded that proper remedial measures should be taken avoid reoccurrence of the incident.
