KATHUA: Dr Manohar Lal Sharma senior Congress leader, former Minister and PCC General Secretary conducted a week-long visit of the different villages of the Billawar Constituency namely Ramkote, Makwal, Galak, Thenthu, Barota , Seri Mooni, Parnala, Katni, Dadwara, Phinter, Durung and Dungara at Billawar and at Kandi area villages Sallan, Parngoli and Pajoke Chak in connection to condole the families of deceased persons recently in these areas.
During his visit Dr Sharma interacted with the number of people, delegations and Panchs and Sarpanchs and party workers. They apprised Sharma about their problems which they are sufferings due to the non serious and casual approach of the government, their elected representative Dr. Nirmal Kumar Singh and BJP.
Dr Manohar Lal Sharma said there are several problems due to the irregular and unscheduled power cuts which further aggravate the problems of the general and particularly students in this extreme cold winter. Due to the irregular and unscheduled power cuts the water supply is worst affected and also the number of hand pumps are out of order from three to four months which further worsens the problems. The water tankers has been stopped and public is suffering due to the non availability of any other alternative arrangement during the breakdowns of power supply as well as machinery breakdowns. The general public further showed deep concern over the delay in repair of the hand pumps, pumping sets and transformers.
A delegation from contractor fraternity also met Dr. Sharma and apprised him about their hardships due to the non-payment of their long pending bills more than one and half year in different departments like in irrigation works done for silt clearance from minor irrigation canals namely Durung Canal, Naz Canal and Beeni canal and flood protection works. A deputation of daily wagers of PHE, Irrigation, Flood Control, Municipality, Fisheries, Forest and Sericulture who are without salaries more than one year accused the behavior of government.
Dr Sharma warned government and BJP to immediately address the genuine demands of these people otherwise they would be forced to come on roads and start agitation. The delegation comprised of Ex Naib Sarpanch Isher Dass, Shori lal, Sarpanch Romesh Kumar, Naib Sarpanch Dhani Ram, Parveen Kumar Sharma , Retd SI Puran Chand, Kamal Singh and Surinder Singh.
