VIJAYPUR: Launching attack on Prime Minister Narindra Modi, former Minister and contesting candidate of Congress Party from Vijaypur Assembly seat Manjit Singh on Sunday alleged that NDA Government led by Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has failed to establish peace with Pakistan due to which militancy related incidents in Jammu and Kashmir have increased.
“Modi Government has failed to hold talks with Pakistan so that peace could be established on the border as well as in J and K which is facing militancy for the last two decades.” Manjit Singh alleged, while saying that they should resume talks with Pakistan to end stalemate.
Intensifying election campaign Manjit Singh was speaking before the people in villages like Thalodi, Smailpur, Karalian, Jakh, and Birpur where he criticised the adamant attitude of the Union Government which has failed to keep peaceful relations with Pakistan.
During election campaigning, he said, same BJP which is leading Government in Delhi had criticised then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and assured that during their rule in Delhi Pak would not dare to violate cease fire and militancy would be dealt with iron hands. However, their claims have fallen flat with repeated incidents of ceasefire violations, militant attacks on civilian as well as in army installments both in Jammu and Kashmir regions.
“These things have been happening due to failed foreign policy of Modi government. They should hold talks with Pakistan,” he said, adding that this is the time to focus for developmental issues of Jammu and Kashmir which is only possible in the atmosphere of peace.
However, peace is missing in State. He strongly condemned militancy attack on army camp in Uri in which precious lives were lost.
Meanwhile, Manjit Singh was joined by Raj Babbar- actor and senior Congress leader- who also campaigned for the Congress candidate for Vijaypur Constituency at village Chak Salarian.
