RAMBAN: District Police Ramban on Tuesday arrested a man and recovered 15 Kg poppy straw from his possession.
As per reports, a police party of Police Station Batote laid a special Naka at Baggu Nallah Batote on specific information and stopped a Taxi (Tavera) bearing Regd. No. JK01AP-7637 on its way from Kashmir Valley to Jammu. During search of vehicle, a gunny bag, packed with poppy straw, was found concealed under the passenger seats of vehicle. On enquiry, the owner of the bag was identified as Sadiq Hussain son of Ab. Kareem, resident of Sunderani, Tikri Tehsil District Udhampur. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 15/2016 under section 8/15 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Batote. The arrest has been made by Inspector Sameer Jeelani, SHO Police Station Batote under the supervision of Mohd Rafiq Choudhary, Dy.SP Hqrs and Randeep Kumar, SSP Ramban.
