PPKPL Championship; Malothi wins inaugural kho-kho match, Romeo Rockets cricket

REASI: Team Malothi won inaugural kho-kho match while Romeo Rockets opened winning account in cricket in the Pir Panjal Knights Premier League (PPKPL) Championship, organised by army at Zorawar Singh Stadium, here on Friday.
On the first day, the Team Malothi and Romeo Ravens played the kho-kho match which was won by Team Malothi by scoring 8 points.
Second kho-kho match was won by Poonch Eves defeating Doda Team by 10 points. Farya Parvez was adjudged the best player of the day for her outstanding performance.
In the inaugural cricket match played on Friday, Asif Bhatt smashed quick 31 runs stand as Romeo Rockets spanked New Saraj Doda by nine wickets. Put into bat, Asif Bhatt struck 31 from 24 balls. The pacers, led by Imran Fazal bowled with authority, did not allowed the New Saraj Doda to build partnerships. However, Seasoned Campaigner Arif put up some resistance with 17 runs off 21 balls for the New Saraj.
Earlier, the championship was inaugurated by Major General Vijay Singh, General Officer Commanding, Uniform Force and Shabir Ahmed Bhatt, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Reasi in the presence of the teams from Doda, Ramban, Reasi, Kishtwar, Rajouri, Poonch and Akhnoor and large gathering of Indian Army, civil administration and locals.
The young girls from the kho-kho teams of Team Malothi and Romeo Ravens released the pigeons as a symbolic gesture of peace and prosperity and coloured balloons with posters to welcome the second phase of the mega sports festival.
The umpires, referees and scores did a remarkable job by ensuring fair play during the conduct of matches.
