KATHUA: As many as 20 teams from the border districts Jammu, Samba and Kathua will be contesting for the title as Kootah Football Meet took off on Friday in Government Higher Secondary School, Kootah in Kathua district.
International footballer and son of the soil, Arun Malhotra inaugurated the tournament while Assistant Commissioner General, Jammu, Rakesh Dubey was the Special Guest.
Footballers of national and international repute will be representing their respective teams in the tournament.
Member DDC Hiranagar, Abhinav Sharma also supported the young players.
Dubey addressing the opening ceremony stated that himself, being a former footballer and represented Jammu and Kashmir at various levels, true talent is in rural areas.
“There is no dearth of talent in Jammu and Kashmir in the field of sports and such tournaments help players to get opportunity to excel,” said Dubey.
Footballer Arun Malhotra shared his experience as a player with the future stars and gave some tips to be a professional sportsperson.
International players Amanjot Singh, National players, Amritpal Singh, Neeraj Thapa, Aniket Singh, Lalit Jamwal, Dhruv Nischal, Jatinder Singh, Abhinav Sharma, Aayushman Jamwal, Hritik Sharma, Hirdayesh Sharma, Davinder SinghI, League Players, Arjun Singh, Sahil Sandhu, Shivanshu, Samuel Gill were also present on the occasion.
